Wheat futures settled trade up a penny to 4 cents this afternoon, after settling mostly 5 to 7 cents lower on Friday. The USDA reports that 49% of the intended winter wheat crop was in the ground as of Sunday night, back two points from the previous five year average. Wheat emerged is also two points behind schedule, at 20% complete. Just over 557,000 MT of US wheat was inspected for export during the week ending 10/1, according to the USDA, 12% less than a week ago. YTD inspections are 1.55 MMT (56 million bushels) smaller than 2014 at this time.
