Wheat futures closed 1 to 2 cents lower on the day. The Mar 14 CBOT contract traded as high as $6.21 but was unable to hold onto those early gains and closed in negative territory for the 12th consecutive trading day. Total commitments as a % of total exports are now at 79% compared to last year’s figure of 67% and the 5 year average of 73%. Wires reported that Japan also bought 109,244 metric tons of milling wheat from the U.S. in a regular weekly tender today. Paris milling wheat futures were up 1.25 at 208.75.
