Wheat futures are trading mostly 7 to 9 3/4 cents lower at midday, after trading mostly 2 to 5 cents lower this morning. Just 17% of the US winter wheat crop had yet to be harvested as of Sunday night, 4 points ahead of the 5 year average pace. Harvest wrapped up in NC and OH over the last week, and should finish up in IL, IN, KS and MO this week. The NE harvest is 17 points ahead of the state’s 5 year average pace. The national spring wheat condition rating worsened by 3 points week over week, now at 368 on our Brugler500 Index. Statewide conditions in MN, and SD were down 4 points week over week, while the ND condition rating declined by 7 points. From the initial 2016 season ratings, the condition score is down 5 points in MN, 16 points in ND, and 49 points in SD.
