Precious metals prices this morning are higher: GCM5 +6.3 (+0.53%), SIK5 +0.121 (+0.74%), HGK5 +0.008 (+0.29%) at a 1-1/2 week high. Thursday's closes: GCM5 -3.3 (-0.27%), SIK5 -0.014 (-0.09%), HGK5 +0.0615 (+2.27%). Gold and silver prices closed lower on Thursday on Fed Vice Chair Fischer's hawkish comment that the Fed can't hold interest rates at zero forever. Gold and silver failed to get a boost from Thursday's sharp sell-off in the dollar index. May copper on Thursday closed sharply higher on hopes that China will implement new stimulus measures that would boost demand for industrial metals.
