Precious metals prices this morning are weaker: Aug gold is -8.4 (-0.72%). Sep silver is -0.178 (-1.13%). Sep copper is -0.062 (-2.44%) at a new 5-month low. Monday's closes: GCQ5 +5.4 (+0.46%), SIN5 +0.060 (+0.38%), HGN5 -0.0790 (-3.02%). Precious metals on Monday settled mixed with Sep copper at a 5-month low. Gold closed higher on increased safe-haven demand tied to Grexit concerns after Sunday's Greek referendum. Gold and copper prices were undercut by (1) the rally in the dollar index to a 1-month high, and (2) speculation that the European economy and industrial metals demand will suffer if Greece is forced to leave the Eurozone.
