- Chart Builder

The Chart Builder (TM) program utilizes the latest Internet technology and in order to use this program you must be using at least version 6.x of Internet Explorer and you must also have Java and JavaScript enabled and a screen size of least 800 by 600.

Chart Builder allows you to build a profile by adding and deleting charts from your portfolio. Once you have created your profile, it will automatically appear when you log back in.

Creating a New Chart

Creating a new chart in Chart Builder is identical to creating a chart in Custom Charts. You can choose your symbols by entering the symbol in the symbol box. Then change the chart settings to suit your needs.

After you have selected your chart settings, click on "Add to List." You will then be prompted to enter a name. Each chart must have a different name.

Viewing your Charts

To view your charts, simply click on your chart name on the left hand side.

If you click "Multi-View", all of your charts will be displayed in separate windows. This allows you to quickly page through them.

Deleting Charts

To delete a chart, choose your chart name from the drop-down "delete" list. Once the name has been chosen, click on the "Delete" button below the list, and the chart will be deleted from your profile.

Quirks in Netscape

  • When "Multi-Page" is selected multiple times, it only produces one page. This is because Netscape has a finite amount of resources allocated to JavaScript, and if too many windows have been opened (even though they might now be closed), Netscape simply won't process any more JavaScript.

    Solution: Close and reopen Netscape.

Quirks in Internet Explorer

  • Internet Explorer does not automatically refresh the screen, so if you add (or delete) an item, the changes will appear, but when you do something else, the screen will revert back to a previous state. For instance, if you add "A", add "B", add "C", and then delete "B", you will have "A" and "C". But if you then add "D", you will have "A", "B", "C". This is due to the way Internet Explorer has its cache set.

Solution: After any Add or Delete, click "Refresh."
